The gas mileage from the 4.4 is less than from the 3.0-- both still are not as efficient as they could be

Test drive it first -- it's very different and luxurious -- not like any SUV or car you've ever driven!
Detailed review:
The X5 is like driving a regular BMW car but in Activity Vehicle (not SUV, don't ever say that about this car!) format. Luxurious and spacious, even in the back seat, this SAV was an easy choice. The Steptronic shifting from automatic into manual was a bit different and hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's a great feature that gives you even more control. The dash board is easy to navigate, the interior feels like you are driving in a large car and the ride is NOT like an SUV at all -- very cushioned -- not rough at all. The seats were very comfortable, roomy and easy to move. The cargo area had a neat feature -- you could pull out the
