Superb handling, speed, secure ride and very comfortable seats
Least favorite feature:
Quality control issues and questionable reliability
Advice to buyer:
The Murano was the most fun SUV to drive
Detailed review:
Before test driving the Murano, I completed a test on the following SUVs: Infiniti FX35 (brutal ride, very poor road view, tight interior, but killer exterior design), Lexus RX330 (beautiful interior, poor engine speed and bouncy ride on Parkway), BMW3x (contolled high speed ride, medicore power, cheap interior for its high price), Cadillac SRX V6 (felt like a large station wagon with a Chevy ride). I previously tested an '03 SL AWD Murano before the '04 came out and I found the ride to be as firm as the SE model but far better than the Infiniti FX. I will tell you that while I can't find it in any literature from Nissan, the '04 SL ride is a big improvement. It was a very pleasant, controlled car like ride. The '04 SE had the same stiff ride as the '03 and it felt more trucky.
Getting in and out of the Murano is without effort. The driver's seat is the most comfortable I've ever experience and so are all the passengers' front & rear seats. Good road visability including the rear. The engine is very powerful with superb passing power on the Parkway. Very secure ride at high speeds and around ramps. The truck nearly stops on a dime if needed. The biggest problem for this vehicle has been the quality control issues due to its early production with a very unique design. Based on the internet forums, Nissan has been slowly addressing these issues. For me, my search is over. I've found the first SUV that fits my criteria but I'll wait until my purchase has to be made in order to get the latest production model to minimize the quality control issues.
