Typical european - firm ride - predictable steering and braking. This is one sweet auto - performs like a sports car, very comfortable ride. 39 to 52 mpg! Over 500 miles to a tank. Looked at Civic LX, Mazda 3, Ford Fusion. Toyota Carolla. Jetta interior superior to all. Performace wise maybe 2nd to Mazda in accelaration, but Jetta has smoothest driving and handling. Tiptronic transmission is a blast! but will cost you mpg. I get about 24 mpg doing mostly city driving over first 3,000 miles. Love the feel and handling. No test drive. Everything about the car says much bang for the buck. Without being to technical, the car responds well to both city and freeway driving as far as acceleration is concerned; albeit w/what is called 'some turbo lag'! The ride is smooth and comfortable for a compact car; with the driver's seat snuggling you in for your driving excursions. I look for reasons to drive this car anywhere/anytime!! All interior features are top notch highlighted by the touch screen Radio/Media console. While not as fancy as a $50k Touareg, this car is well worth any sacrifices in amenities to gain financial amenities in car note, gas prices and scheduled maintenance!!!!
