What’s New: Mercedes-Benz has thoroughly updated the C-Class for 2008, with all-new styling, expanded dimensions, a new C300 model that replaces the C280, and the deletion of the base C230.

What We Think: Though debuting with a sporty new look and a larger footprint, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class continues to lag the competition in terms of materials quality and driving excitement.

Overview: 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Whether preparing for the school year, a job interview, or maybe a first date, we’ve all had to take our wardrobe to the next level. That requires more than a new shirt from Sears – we’re talking about a fashion statement, complete with the well-known labels designed to impress. But either because we can't or won't spend the greenbacks, we head to the outlet mall, since discounted Gucci is still Gucci. It’s the same mentality that leads to purchasing cars such as the entry-level 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class – it may not be an E- or S-Class, but it’s still a luxury sedan. Right?

2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Action

Technically, that’s true, and with a new look for 2008 closely resembling that of the iconic S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has a more familial look than any of its predecessors. However, unlike the Gucci bags sold at the outlet, which are identical to those available on Rodeo Drive, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class differs significantly from its pricier siblings. In particular, the sense of quality is missing, due in large part to low-grade interior materials, and the loud, uninspiring ride lends one to believe that you’re experiencing a fine German luxury sedan in name only. For shoppers intent on driving home with a coveted label, the new and improved 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class fits the bill, but for those who seek substance and value, may be suggest something from designers such as BMW, Cadillac, or Lexus?
