The Next Big Thing from Dodge struts its stuff out in the open

Dodge Challenger– 2008 Spy Photo: In a turn of events that no doubt inspired a stream of “Lookit! Lookit! Lookit!” from the photographer, the 2009 Dodge Challenger was captured testing on the highway. Wearing disguise diapers on the front and rear, it’s clear from the profile that this is the production version of the concept coupe that had Detroit and the rest of the automotive world atwitter when it debuted a couple years ago. We can’t see how the nose and tail look (it’s clearly sporting a ducktail spoiler), but the profile is unmistakable, and check out those smoothly styled doors. After the in-your-face Magnum and Charger, the Challenger seems almost tame. What won’t be tame is the engine, most certainly a Hemi, and the top-line will likely use a version of the 6.1-liter tire shredder used in various SRT forms.
