First Drive Q&A: 2010 Lexus HS 250h

The world's first dedicated luxury hybrid (is not just an upgraded Prius)

Is that joystick like BMW's iDrive?

Yes, except that it's easy to use and intuitive. The joystick moves a finger-shaped cursor on the navigation screen just like a mouse would. However, it gets really high-tech when you place the cursor over an on-screen button. Suddenly the joystick develops a slight bit of resistance, which makes it easier to place the cursor where you want it. An enter button under your thumb makes the selection, and there's another on the other side so your passenger can program the system for you. It's very simple, and without any instruction we were comfortable with it within minutes.
