During the past decade, hybrid technology has affected the automotive landscape with a magnitude like no other. Granted, we’ve seen advancements in performance and handling, safety features, and creature comforts, but the introduction of affordable and obtainable gas/electric powertrains has forced everyone from manufacturers to lawmakers and consumers to reevaluate the direction of personal transportation. Technically, the Honda Insight was the first widely-available hybrid, but the Toyota Prius followed soon after, using its more traditional styling and family-friendly interior to gain an edge that it has yet to relinquish.
