Hyundai Sonata

What it is: The completely redesigned Sonata marks the sixth generation of Hyundai’s midsize sedan. Not so midsize anymore though, it has so much interior volume that the EPA considers it a large sedan.

What we like about it: The base engine is a class-leading 198-horsepower 2.4-liter gas direct-injected power plant that achieves 35 mpg on the highway.

Bottom line: VW CC meets Toyota Camry in a car the size of a Honda Accord.
