James Cameron gets futuristic (again)
Through his work, James Cameron has always exhibited a fascination with the future, be it Aliens, The Terminator, or, uh, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The James Cameron future, however, is often grim, filled with facehugger parasitoids and artificially intelligent machine networks with genocidal tendencies. James Cameron’s latest foray into the future seems to have much brighter implications of things to come. Taken a couple weeks ago at the Malibu Arts Festival, this photo shows Cameron behind the wheel of the futuristic-looking Solartaxi, the first completely solar-powered car to drive around the world. Built by Cyberdyne Systems Corporation (just kidding), the Solartaxi is a zero-emissions vehicle that generates its power completely from solar energy. And while the near future is probably not going to see a mass-produced 100% solar-powered vehicle, Toyota has announced that its 2010 Toyota Prius will incorporate solar panels for ancillary power.
